Family!
Things are going really well here! I still love being a missionary!
This week has been really great. But as usual, full of its ups and downs.
On Thursday, we got to go to the temple with 3 of our recent converts. The rule is: if they start on their family history, and they find names to print out and take to the temple, we can go with them to do the baptisms and confirmations!
We spent an hour and a half on Wednesday night with Carlos and our Ward Family History Specialist trying to get his account on Family Search working so we could put his names in and print them out. Ha. It was a pain, but we finally got it done, and it was that much more awesome to be there with him in the temple!
On Saturday, we taught a lesson to Carlos about the Plan of Salvation, and talked about the importance of the temple work he had just done two days prior. It was really cool to see how much he understands even though he’s only been a member for a few months! Also, his mom, Hermana Bort (she calls herself the missionaries' mom, and I’d have to agree!) was in the lesson with us, and she shared a really cool experience:
After her father passed away, her brother (who is not a member) had a dream, and saw his dad dressed in white with a little, black plaque on his chest (obviously a missionary plaque), and he just couldn’t get over how happy he looked.
Then Hermana Bort went on to bear her testimony of the reality of the plan of salvation, and how there are really, in all actuality, missionaries on the other side of the veil that are working just as hard, if not harder than we are to save the thousands of souls that still haven’t accepted the Gospel.
It was an incredible experience! Definitely a testimony builder! Hermana Bort is awesome! J
Fun facts/funny happenin’s:
This last week we found out that a guy we’ve seen around our area is a Pro Basketball player that plays for the Sacramento Kings. His name is Fransisco Garcia, and he was born and raised here in Independencia. Ha. Super sweet.

Also, I have been fighting off an ear infection this last week or so, and I had a lady in our ward tell me to use my own urine as ear drops and apparently it makes it go away. Ha… I didn’t do it. We stopped by the Mission Doctor’s office (in the CCM) while we were at the temple on Thursday and got some actual ear drops. Ha. I just thought it was interesting… There are definitely some wacky home remedies that they use here in the DR!
Also, last night we stopped by to visit Anamaria (our recent convert) and she fed us a HUGE plate full of Mango. Ha. I don’t know how I lived before I ate fruit here. I think I might just extend my mission forever, JUST because of the fruit here. Ha.
Anyway. I’m sorry it’s short this week. Hopefully the pictures I sent home will make up for it.
I hope each and everyone of you are happy and healthy! And I hope none of you ever forget that this church is true! We as missionaries see this Gospel change peoples lives EVERYDAY! If you haven’t already, let it change yours.
I love you all. Thank you for your love and support.
Love,
Elder Cade Mooney
