Tuesday was chill. We had a morning of laundry. Yeah, we're supposed to do it on P-days, but seeing that we live in the DR, and electricity doesn't usually follow the missionary schedule, those rules don't really apply in our mission. haha.
Wednesday we had a good talk about Baptisms for the Dead with Anni. She had an Evangelical guy tell her that what we were teaching was anti-biblical... So we backed ourselves up with scripture from the Bible, and invited her to pray about it. I didn't quite understand the term "religious confusion" before I came to the DR... It's amazing that any of these people actually find the true church. There are SO many other religions that have lots of little parts of the Gospel, but they all have different interpretations of the things the Bible teaches. THANK HEAVENS FOR THE BOOK OF MORMON AND MODERN DAY REVELATION!!! We are blessed! I hope you are all still reading your scriptures every day. We've got the truth, so DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!
Thursday I had a really great personal study session. :) I read from the first couple chapters of Helaman, and then my companion let me borrow a talk that he has. It's one that Joseph Smith gave at the funeral of someone with the last name of Knight. He talked about death and the after life, and lots of deep stuff about God, creation, and eternal progression. ha. I'm really not a fan of deep doctrine. It makes me think too hard and sometimes I have doubts about it... Ha. But one thing he said in the talk I really liked; "If we start right, it is easy to go right all the time; but if we start wrong we may go wrong, and it will be a hard matter to get right."
I've noticed this concept many a time during my life, and especially here on the mission. Down to our daily activities can be affected by whether or not we started our day right; with a healthy breakfast, and a hearty helping of the Word of God. :) Everything we do has a beginning, our days, our weeks, our months, our years, our lives. We have control of how we begin the things we do. And if we do it right, it will go right. :) Luckily for us, we have ancient as well as living prophets to tell us EXACTLY what we need to do in order to start right, and stay right! Just do it!
Friday was good. We went to Anni's for lunch to celebrate a late Dominican Mother's day. :) We ate Sancocho (that "mystery soup" we used to eat in the CCM), which is like a Dominican Delicacy. :)

Then we had a talk with her about other churches (she's basically visited them all), and read together from Exodus where Moses had to battle against the priests of the Pharaoh and the powers of Satan. We explained that Satan has the power to imitate the spirit/power of God, but that we have the power to distinguish between the two. We emphasized the importance of prayer and receiving an answer from the Holy Ghost.
Later on we taught Soani, AND HER HUBBY! (not actually married... obv. We're not stateside. ha) We talked with them and got to know Broulio a bit better. He seems like a really humble guy, that loves Soani with all he's got. They are super busy at the moment trying to build themselves a house, so we'll keep tryin to find time to meet with them when they can.
In the evening we met with Edward and Sandra. :) They are doing well. Edward has been reading the Book of Mormon out loud, so Sandra can study too, and they're already in the third chapter of 1 Nephi. :) They are SO great! They had lots of good questions, and we talked some more about how and why we have Another Testament of Jesus Christ. They still love what they are hearing, but Satan's not making it easy on them... They want to come to church, but keep having last minute things come up... Also, we did some research about divorce (in order for them to get baptized, Sandra has to divorce her first husband, and then marry Edward) and it's gonna cost them between 15 and 20 thousand pesos... So we'll start praying and searching for options now... Please keep them in your prayers.
On Saturday I made Tacos. :) With ALL the fixins!! SUPER yummy.
Our day as far as missionary work goes was rather rough... Weekends and holidays are the hardest ones as far a teaching goes. No one is ever home, and if they are home, they're drunk. ha.
Then ate hard core American style spaghetti with fresh Mango juice (I'll make you all some of that when I get home too), and home made Banana bread for dessert! Real deal Sunday food! It was almost like being back at home!! ha.
Then in the evening we went out to visit the Montero family. We picked up Santos (member) on the way, and then a group of like 5 members showed up for a Visiting Teaching/Home Teachers visit. :) So we all visited together. :) It was great! And SO good to see the members loving and supporting our Family! They're still progressing really well. Dioni is at church every single week. Adriana has been working a lot, but we're working with her, so hopefully we can work something out so she can be at church with her Husband every Sunday!
Today we got together with La Zona de Las Palmas, and had a good time playin basketball and two hand touch football. :) Always good to relax and enjoy each other's company. Missionaries are cool.
Anyway. Sorry the email was dry this week. I promise to study hard this week and blow your minds next Monday with all my spiritual experiences. :)
Love you all. More than you know.
Love,
