Cool things that happened:

FHE Movie night at Sombolo's house 8/5/2013
On Monday we had an AWESOME FHE at a member's house. We watched the Testaments on a projector, and then ate some Venezuelan Arepa made by the Venezuelan dancers that are living there right now. ha. They also happen to be our investigators. :) SO cool. They are siblings -- brother and sister (José and Rosaira), and are here in the DR doing cultural presentations around the island. I'm not quite sure how they got in contact with Sombolo (the member), but they're staying at his house, and he introduced them to us, and he brings them to church every week! SO cool! Last night we had an awesome lesson with them and talked about the Restoration, and gave them both a Book of Mormon. It was an AWESOME lesson, and they both committed to prepare themselves for baptism. :) Sadly, they are heading back to Venezuela in a couple weeks, so we decided it would be best to get them as prepared a we can while they're here, and then let the Elders in their home ward finish the job when they get back. :) We told them we expect updates and pictures when they get baptized!

Also, this week I got to meet a lady in our ward named Altagracia. We were going to teach an investigator in her house, but the investigator didn't show up. So Altagracia shared her conversion story with us instead! :) Apparently like 20 years ago President Kimball came to this island for a conference, and one of Altagracia's neighbors was a member. She invited Altagracia to "hear the Prophet speak," but Altagracia couldn't go. So she sent her neighbor with instructions to take good notes and tell her what the Prophet said. When the neighbor came back, she reported that the prophet had commanded everyone to start storing food, because there was going to be a rice shortage. So Altagracia started storing rice. She put away as much as she could every day, and when the rice shortage finally hit, she had enough for her family, AND enough to share with her Mormon neighbor that wasn't quite as obedient. haha. Her entire family was baptized shortly thereafter! We are SO blessed to have a prophet!!

Our investigators are doing well. Karen and Carlos are still waiting on the divorce paperwork from Carlos' first wife, and then they'll get married so they can be baptized. :) They are beyond Golden! They already know the church is true, they're just waiting on the lawyer. :)
